1. Tell us a little about yourself, what you do and like doing?

I’m a comic artist mostly on the side as I work full time. I do mainly illustrations and webcomics and I usually doodle for whatever interests me.

2. What makes you want to draw and submit your comics for the anthology?

It was purely by chance while I was finding something for my weekly doodle and I had time so figured why not since it’s a short comic, the deadline was a little tight, but if I squeeze just a little, it seemed workable.

3. Share with us your art style, what has influenced you that makes you want to draw in the style you are advocating?

I don’t think I have a style? I have done various from manga to semi-realistic to simple ones that I just do what I am comfortable with or suitable for the story. I usually scroll on social media or study various other art forms if I am researching and explore from there as a reference.

4. What do you think about when it comes to comics-making or publishing in Singapore?

I can’t say for others but it was hard for myself, especially as an introvert and with the minimal network regarding publishing locally. It’s something like a ‘learn as you hustle and grow’ sort of process as I met more people and gain more experience with how it works. Then there are options online with comics platforms available too. Although I find it too much hassle, even till now, publishing just seemed like a tedious process for me to grasp, while having to do marketing as well, so I stuck to drawing and uploading on my socials when I can instead.

It’s also great to have discipline because you sort of need that motivation to keep going at it consistently being an artist in Singapore but certainly don’t neglect yourself either, take a step back or a breather if you need to.

5. If money is not an issue, what would you like to pursue in comics?

Develop more of my comic series and explore more, see how I can improve.
