1. Tell us a little about yourself, what you do and like doing?

I am a project manager at a local production studio, and I like scrolling through Netflix and then randomly watching animations and movies that seem interesting to me. :p

2. What makes you want to draw and submit your comics for the anthology?

For fun. Also, since my comic theme isn’t very mainstream, I am curious to see how it would be fair with other entries.

3. Share with us your art style, what has influenced you that makes you want to draw in the style you are advocating?

My art style is something that I became used to when I was a storyboard artist in another local studio. I’ve never had any intention to draw comics so when I first started to draw the silly things that happened in my life, I drew it as if I was storyboarding and this style came naturally.

As for the comic layout, I like things simple and my influences came from some American, Japanese and Taiwanese slice of life comics.

4. What do you think about when it comes to comics-making or publishing in Singapore?

Nothing. Haha… I am new to the comic scene so I don’t have an opinion on that.

Based on my previous experiences as an artist, self-publishing is difficult here due to the cost. If a publisher is willing to publish an artist’s works, the artist gets a very small cut of the sales.

Although it’s fun to draw stuff we like and publish for all to see, there is a very small number of local audiences who are willing to pay for it. Most prefer to view/ read your comic online for free. So, to me, being a full-time artist is not easy.

5. If money is not an issue, what would you like to pursue in comics?

I will spend more time on my slice of life comics and also pursue my other interests. 🙂
