A new community space in Tekka district will be dedicated towards showcasing the best of Singapore’s comics, illustration, sequential art, and storytelling.
NAFA and SG Cartoon Resource Hub are driving this new initiative to introduce and celebrate the dynamic community of established comic artists and creators as well as emerging young talents in Singapore.
Welcome to the enigmatic season of comics, we are delighted to present two distinct realms of original comic art by Singapore most celebrated comic artists.

Comic Art Exhibition by Sam Lay, Sean Lam & Kang Jing
Explore the light and darkness of life through works by Sam Lay, Sean Lam and Kang Jing. With skilful techniques, the three artists narrate their stories through protagonists/antagonists by reflecting societal issues to engage with readers. Each panel is investigative and intriguing independently or collectively.

Comic Art Exhibition by Clio Ding, Clio Hui & Jia Hui
Desires and emotions are often kept in surreal or dreamlike state, where it is unadulterated and pure. The work by these three female comic artists – Clio Ding, Clio Hui and Jia Hui, depict intangible connections with their appealing and innocent characters. The allure of their work gravitates towards self-love and acceptance.

About Comic Embassy
Comic Embassy is a communal place for comic artists to feature their work, organise workshops, talks and engaged with the public. While there are several interest groups in SG, most participate in annual short events such as the Singapore Comic Con, or festivals that showcase the artists in a short period of time. The embassy hopes to create opportunities for local comic artists to gain more spotlight moments, and connect with emerging artists (those who have yet to be published) and also student groups.

About SG Cartoon Resource Hub
SG Cartoon Resource Hub is a project undertaken by a team of comic enthusiasts, practitioners and educators to raise awareness of comics as a significant part of our local cultural heritage, promoting a sustainable industry landscape by connecting comics practitioners, readers, academics and the wider community. SG Cartoon Resource Hub is a one-stop resource platform supported by National Arts Council (NAC), that publishes educational articles on local comics history, features works by veterans and upcoming artists, keeps track of the latest happenings, and engages with industry professionals to provide training resources for aspiring comic artists.
About Tekka 1001
Tekka 1001, a retail-placemaking experience designed to enhance the way Singaporeans shop, eat, and interact within the spaces of a mall. As a placemaking concept, the name Tekka 1001 is a nod to the Middle-eastern collection of folktales One Thousand and One Nights, rich in content and storytelling. Tekka 1001 aims to bring the art, creatives and entrepreneurs to connect with each other through creativity, entertainment and collaboration.
